Description
For those new to the wastewater field, this course provides an introduction and overview of the basic concepts of wastewater treatment, operations, general chemistry and mathematics.

Course Content
* Introduction to Wastewater: introduction to basic concepts of wastewater collection, conveyance, treatment processes, the role of the treatment plant operator and the regulations that govern wastewater treatment plant operations.
* Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment: Preliminary, Primary and Biological Secondary treatment are introduced. Concepts are reinforced through a local wastewater plant tour.
* General Math: an overview of the basic mathematical knowledge required to operate a wastewater treatment plant.
* General Chemistry: an overview of the fundamentals of chemistry, including the concept of matter and its structure, the laws of chemistry, chemical reactions, stoichiometry and solutions
Target Audience
New operators, not yet certified and certified operators wanting to earn continuing education credit.
