Description
This course provides an overview of the Water & Wastewater Systems Operators’ Certification Act, the National Pretreatment Program, general safety associated with the operation of a treatment facility and an overview of basic biological concepts as they relate to wastewater treatment processes.

Course Content
• General Safety: an overview of safety awareness as it relates to chemicals and other hazards associated with operations. Prevention and response to safety and health issues will be discussed.
• Ethics: an overview of the Water & Wastewater Systems Operators’ Certification Act (the Act), the State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators and the relationship between requirements of the NPDES permittee and the certified operator.
• Regulations: an overview of the Federal (Clean Water Act) and State (Clean Streams Law) regulations that apply to the collection, treatment and disposal of wastewaters.
• Applied Biology: an overview of basic biology concepts and the fundamentals of biology as it relates to wastewater treatment processes.
• Component Review & Test

New operators not yet certified and certified operators wanting to earn continuing education credit.
