Description
The purpose of this course is to provide the plant operator with a basic understanding of how to reduce energy consumption at the treatment plant and how to monitor that success; how to prepare proper SOPs; an overview of how to properly manage a treatment plant; an overview of the National Pretreatment Program and the layout, requirements, and special conditions of an NPDES permit.

Course Content
• General Administration: an overview of the data, reports, skills and programs required to properly manage a treatment plant.
• Standard Operating Procedures Preparation: an overview of the SOP requirements in the ACT and how to prepare a SOP. A Standard Operating Procedure development exercise will be included.
• Industrial Pretreatment: an overview of the National Pretreatment program, the legal authorities necessary to develop and operate a program and the methods employed by POTWs to identify and monitory industrial users, enforce regulations and report to authorities.
• Energy Efficiency: provides the plant operator with a basic understanding of how to reduce energy consumption at the treatment plant and how to monitor that success.
• NPDES Permits: an overview of the layout, requirements, and special conditions of an NPDES permit.
• Review and Preparation for Certification Exam
Target Audience
New operators not yet certified and certified operators wanting to earn continuing education credit.
