Description
The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the design, operation, maintenance and operational problems associated with ponds & lagoons, rotating biological contactors and trickling filter treatment systems. An introduction to activated sludge will be provided as well.

• Ponds and Lagoons; an overview of the design, operation, maintenance and typical operational problems.
• Trickling Filter process: an overview of the trickling filter process, operating strategies, operating problems, and startup and maintenance requirements.
• RBCs: an overview of the RBC treatment process highlighting advantages and disadvantages, O & M issues and typical operational problems.
• Introduction to Activated Sludge: a basic overview of the activated sludge process will be discussed..
Target Audience
New operators not yet certified and certified operators wanting to earn continuing education credit.
