Description
Water distribution operators understand the hydraulics of their systems on normal days. However, when non-typical events occur, they need to make decisions on the expected behavior of their system in situations they may not have dealt with previously. This class focuses on the hydraulics of those events, including fire demand, power outage, major shutdown, low disinfectant residual and cross connection contamination, and demonstrates some tools to held in those situations. Students will discuss alternative ways of dealing with each situation, recommend corrective steps and evaluate how well they worked.
