Description
Note: This is a short course - not all of Module is covered. In Pennsylvania, due to natural or man-made causes, several inorganic contaminants may be commonly present in ground water and even surface water. These inorganic contaminants include arsenic, barium, copper, lead, iron, mercury, manganese, nitrate and nitrate, and zinc. Since lead and copper removal are covered in the CCT module, this module focuses on the removal of the other inorganics, with additional emphasis given to the removal of iron and manganese. The training module is targeted towards students who need to take the subclass 9 pre-certification exam, so the removal technologies of ion exchange and greensand filtration are discussed in detail. Due to the common practice of softening of hard water using ion exchange, these treatment principals are also discussed.
