Description
This course will help operators understand the various types of Clarifiers and how they operate as an integral part of the Wastewater Treatment system. Hydraulic Design Principles and Solids Loading Principals will be explained but more importantly how the Clarifier must be operated to stay within those principals will also be shown.
Clarifiers as an essential part of the Activated Sludge Process will be shown and key process parameters affecting Clarifier operation will be discussed in detail. Clarifier effects on downstream operations such as disinfection, filtration and Sludge Digestion will be covered. Control parameters and tests to monitor Clarifier performance will be introduced and explained. Measurements such as SVI, MLSS, F:M will be practiced and applied to Clarifier Operation.
The course will be specifically geared to making the operator understand the day to day adjustments of running a Clarifier. Theory be “damned” !
