Description
Pennsylvania community and nontransient noncommunity water systems using a chemical disinfectant were required to begin complying with the Stage 2 DBP Rule in 2012 and 2013. With the implementation of the Disinfection Requirements Rule (DRR) in 2018, systems must now maintain a balance of simultaneous compliance between the minimum disinfectant levels required by DRR and the disinfection byproduct maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) established by the Stage 2 DBP Rule. This course will review Stage 2 DBP Rule MCL compliance and Operational Evaluations, which are a unique, proactive component of the rule. This course will also provide a discussion of operational techniques that can be used to maintain simultaneous compliance with DRR and Stage 2, including in-plant optimization and distribution system best management practices.
