Description
The purpose of this course is to prepare participants for the PA DEP Wastewater Treatment Exam. Successful completion of this course will help the participant become a certified wastewater treatment operator and also serves as a refresher course for practitioners seeking continuing education credits.

Sequential Batch Reactor a. Theory of a Sequencing Batch Reactor b. Differentiate between a Sequencing Batch Reactor and Flow Through Activated Sludge process c. Describe Hydraulics of a Sequencing Batch Reactor d. Define Batch Volumes e. Describe and utilize Dilution Effects on parameters f. Describe the Kinetics of Biological reactions g. Understand the Operation of a Sequencing Batch Reactor h. Acquire and understanding of Process Optimization of a Sequencing Batch Reactor i. Identify techniques in Sampling & Analysis for Operation & Troubleshooting of a Sequencing Batch Reactor Disinfection and Chlorination a. Explain the principles of wastewater disinfection and chlorine b. Control the chlorination process to obtain the desired effluent disinfection c. Handle chlorine safely d.
