In this class, students will learn about the activated sludge process for wastewater treatment. The course will also cover the math related to the activated sludge process.

Course Content
SBRs- This course will discuss the unique design of Sequencing Batch Reactors, and operational objectives of each cycle. The course also explores operational process control measures to identify proper operation and to troubleshoot problems. 3 hours Activated Sludge Part I – The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the activated sludge process, aeration systems and new wastewater treatment plant start-up procedures. This course will include instruction on activated sludge treatment plant types, various factors that upset operation, aeration methods and system and equipment check procedures prior to start-up. 6 hours Activated Sludge Part II – The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the activated sludge process control strategies, typical operational problems encountered during the process and the microbiology of the activated sludge process. This course will include a wastewater treatment plant tour to familiarize the participants with the activated sludg
