This course was designed and developed by RCAP as a part of a funded EPA grant: Training and Technical Assistance for Small Drinking Water Systems to Achieve and Maintain Compliance through Assessing and Addressing Deficiencies. Drinking Water and Wastewater Operators perform routine calculations on a daily basis as a part of process monitoring and control. The most recent ABC Need To Know criteria for water distribution operators completed in 2012 indicates that operators still need assistance with recordkeeping, capital plans, interpreting data and performing measurements and distribution math. This course is designed to assist attendees to a) convert between different measures of units, b) determine perimeter, area and volume and c) solve basic math problems facing a small system operator.

Basic thru Intermediate

This course is designed to assist attendees to a) convert between different units of measures, b) determine perimeter, area and volume, and c) solve basic math problems facing a small system operator. This course will accomplish this through modules that will : a) Review Math Concepts -Working with fractions - Understanding and using conversion factors - Percentages -Area and Volume b) Provide tactics for solving problems -Solving of an unknown -Working with word problems c) Provide practice applying the concepts to solve example test problems There are 7 modules that cover math basics, working with fractions, working with conversion factors, percentages, area and volume and working with equations. The final module consists of practice problems.

This course is designed for the small system operator who is entry-level, newly certified or planning on becoming certified . This course is also applicable to those small-mid size operators who desire CEUS and a math refresher course.
