Description
Any place or process in which wastewater is collected, conveyed or treated has the potential to generate and release nuisance odors to the surrounding area. H2S Gas has wreaked havoc on our Sewer systems for ages. They have continually destroyed both pipes and manholes and an infinite number of assets within our wastewater conveyance systems. In addition, with the elimination of CSO’s, there has been less dilution of the wastewater. This has increased the strength of our wastewater and associated gases and odors to the highest levels in generations. Making the job of odor/H2S elimination a never-ending struggle to keep under control. Fighting constant odor complaints, air quality issue, corrosion and regulatory compliance is an uphill battle.
This class will review the current odor control technologies utilized in both the Wastewater treatment Plant as well as what technologies are used out in the system. There is no one size fits all for every system. It requires a multi-pronged approach; we will go over what types of odor control systems there are for each situation in your system. Also, we will talk about the different types of media and Chemicals are used to fight this age-old problem.
