Description
Train workers to safely operate a PIT (forklift) in specific class or classes and types including all forklifts except ANSI Class 7 powered industrial trucks.
The Trainee will identify existing and predictable hazards in the workplace that will affect operation of a PIT/forklift.
The Trainee describe the proper inspection procedure and items of which to inspect on a given PIT/forklift.
The trainee will safely operate each type of PIT/forklift for which they are being trained to operate.

- Classification of forklifts (PIT) per ANSI and OSHA
- Truck-related topics
- Workplace-related topics including hazards and potential hazards
- Pre-use inspections and maintenance
- Refueling - Gas/diesel, LPG, batteries
- Written test requiring 80% or better to pass
- Operator training - hands-on
- Operator evaluation

Any worker that has the potential to operate a powered industrial truck (forklift) in the course of doing their duties.
