Description
This is a hands-on demonstration class for engineers, water/ wastewater plant operators, water distribution operators, and wastewater collections system operators. The students will work in small groups (4-5 people per group) and the learn the basics of hydraulics in the distribution/ collection system, what system control valves do and how they work. They will proceed to the mobile distribution system lab learn how control valves are applied, how they work internally and how to maintain them.

• Hydraulic fundamentals of a distribution system overview • Main Valve body basics • Valve Diaphragm technology • Valve Pilot systems • Pressure reducing valves • Read/ understanding Control Valve Pilot Schematics • Pressure Sustaining and Pressure Relief Valves • Different types of pilot systems • Startup and commissioning of valves • Troubleshooting valves • Preventative maintenance • Correct sizing of valves Hands on lab • Assemble main valve body • Commission pressure sustaining valve • Installation of Pumps - Safety, Alignment and Grouting • Cavitation of valves • Commission pressure reducing valve • Troubleshoot pressure reducing valve • Rolling Diaphragm demo • Build/ Commission combination pressure reducing/ sustaining valve • Demonstration of altitude valve • Demo Hydro Guard flushing system
Target Audience
Any engineer, Water/ Wastewater plant operator, water distribution system operator, wastewater collection system operator or maintenance person involved in water distribution or wastewater collections who need to understand how control valves work.
