Description
Workplace violence is violence or the threat of violence against workers. It can occur at or outside the workplace and range from threats and verbal abuse to physical assults and homicide. Workplace violence however it occurs is a growing concern for employers and employees. Violence in the workplace is a serious safety and health issue. Its most extreme form, homicide, is the third-leading cause of fatal occupational injury in the United States according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI). This course will explore the conditions that may contribute to workplace violence and offer programs and policies to help prevent a tragic situation before it occurs.
