Description
The Public Notification (PN) Rule ensures that consumers will know if there is a problem with their drinking water. The rule requires public water systems to notify consumers when various violations or situations occur. Time frames and delivery requirements for issuing the three “tiers” of notices is based on the potential health effects of the violation or situation that has occurred. Each time a drinking water regulation is promulgated the PN Rule is updated to reflect the requirements, so this refresher included updated rule information. This virtual refresher course was created for and delivered to the Pa DEP Safe Drinking Water (SDW) staff that oversee the issuance of public notification. This course also included compliance and data management information, since SDW staff directly input or oversee the management of PN data that is submitted through a computer database to the parent agency, EPA.
