Description
PFAS are man-made synthetic chemicals widely used for their unique properties that make products repel water, grease and stains, reduce friction and resist heat. They readily dissolve in water and are highly persistent over time. Exposure to these chemicals are known to cause a number of adverse health effects. The Pennsylvania DEP’s PFAS MCL Rule, published in January 2023, establishes maximum contaminant levels in drinking water for 2 common PFAS contaminants: PFOA and PFOS.
