Description
Basic Test Equipment: In this lesson, you will be introduced to the use of basic multimeters. A multimeter can measure voltage, resistance, and current values in a circuit. This text will provide a review of basic circuit properties and concepts and will also cover features, controls, and uses of both analog and digital VOMs. Special accessory probes used with meters to measure current, temperature, and high voltage will also be covered.
Troubleshooting with Volt-Ohm_milliamp Meters: By using a VOM, the repair person can quickly troubleshoot both AC and DC power supply problems along with disconnect, circuit breaker, fuse, contactor, and PLC input and output problems. This lesson will give a brief review of the functions of a multimeter, followed by some important safety precautions you should take when troubleshooting electrical or electronic circuits. It also covers resistance tests, including basic tests for continuity and short circuits and instruction on how to perform tests on various electrical and electronic components, including fuses, coils, transformers, motors, and some types of semiconductor devices. It will also deal with current measurements on power supplies, AC feeder lines, and other such circiut areas, as well as voltage tests on both AC and DC systems.
