Course Description
This course was developed to enhance the knowledge and troubleshooting skills of the veteran electrician, as well as the less experienced multi-skilled worker. The course is ideal for a cross training tool for non-electricians in their attempts to troubleshoot and repair motor controls and other common electrical problems.

Day 1:
? Introduction to Industrial Electricity some history, Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison, Charles Steinmetz. (1/4 hr.)
? Basic Electrical Theory Review (1 hr.)
? Electrical terminology (1/4 hr.)
? Alternating Current vs Direct Current; advantages and disadvantages of each explained. (1/2 hr.)
? Single phase and three phase power distribution systems explained. Applications, purposes and advantages and disadvantages of each. (1 hr.)
? Introduction to Electrical Safety; The Hazards of Electricity, PPE, (Personal Protective Equipment), Lockout / tagout, the National Electrical Code. (1 hr.)
? Ohm’s law and Kirchoff’s laws explained and the following hands-on circuit exercises using and demonstrating each law. (1 hr.)
? Hands-on exercises Series, parallel and combination circuits wired tested and ohms law calculations done. The uses of each circuit and demonstrating each circuit. (2 hr.)
