Description
The purpose is to provide basic information necessary to properly operate and maintain a package plant, recirculating sand filter, single-pass sand filter or stabilization pond.

Course Content
• Safety-to provide safety information related to operating small sewage treatment and collection systems.
• Inflow and Infiltration (I& I)-Provide information on the importance of finding and removing I & I in a small wastewater collection system and how to do so.
• Package Plants-Cover how biological treatment works in aeration basin and clarifier, how to manage it through process control and sludge holding tanks. Hands on training is included.
• Tertiary Treatment-discussion of when it is needed and what treatment components provided tertiary level treatment, including discussion of single-pass sand filter operation and maintenance.
• Recirculating Sand Filters (RSF)-The course covers the components, operation and maintenance of RSFs.
• Laboratory Sampling-Covers NPDES Permits and compliance monitoring, including collection of required samples and reporting of results.

Wastewater Operators managing small sewage treatment plants.
