Description
This half-day course is designed to provide participants with a thorough understanding of the procedures and techniques associated with chlorine analysis. Attendess will learn practical aspects of colorimetric chlorine testing in a lecture and hands-on setting. Verification of results using primary and secondary standards will also be discussed and practiced, including standard solution preparation and standard additions. Participants will leave the course with an understanding of laboratory chlorine measurement and performance verification.

Course Content
* Road to water testing - Presentation about laboratory testing that includes sampling techniques and good laboratory practices for chlorine testing. * Discussion of the differences between tree and total chlorine and analytical test methods for each, good laboratory practices, sampling for chlorine analysis. * How to use the instrument to measure a sample, instrument verification using secondary standards. * Chlorine analysis using powder pillows and AccuVacs, high range chlorine analysis, verification with secondary standard and prepared standard solutions, standard additions.
Target Audience
The target audience for this course is anyone who tests for chlorine in the lab or online including water and wastewater operators, lab analysts and managers, quality control supervisors, regulatory personnel, and environmental protection staff. - anyone who may be testing for chlorin. It will be most relevant to drinking water operators who have recently switched from a visual to an instrumental method of detection.
