Description
Cybersecurity is defined by the Federal Government as “the art of protecting networks, devices, and data from unauthorized access or criminal use and the practice of ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.” Cybersecurity in the water and wastewater sector is a top priority nationally because both are identified as critical infrastructure sectors. The PA DEP Bureau of Safe Drinking Water is adding 13 inspection questions relative to cybersecurity for all sanitary survey inspections at community water systems. This course will review those questions so that system operators and management can take action to address vulnerabilities in advance. While the focus is specific to drinking water systems, the overall concepts and basic cybersecurity protections apply to wastewater systems as well.
