In this course you will learn about the West Nile Virus, whom and what it affects, and how it is transmitted. Information on the West Nile Virus and its effects on the Pennsylvania Ruffed Grouse population will be discussed. You will learn about the mosquito and its life cycle to better understand how it transmits West Nile Virus and how to eliminate mosquito reproduction at a wastewater treatment plant. Methods of mosquito control will be presented that will effectively eliminate mosquitoes without hurting the biomass in the wastewater plant or the body of water to which the wastewater treatment plant discharges. By reducing mosquito breeding habitat at the wastewater plant, you can help prevent the spread of West Nile Virus.
