Description
This course is devoted to the inspection and maintenance of the Side A operations at the Greater Hazleton Joint Sewer Authority. The course will begin with information on the record keeping completed during a shift. Next the course will discuss the inspection and maintenance procedures for the Side A processes. This will include the magnesium hydroxide system, FOG digester, primary pumps and clarifiers, and chemical and side stream process. Additionally, the inspection and maintenance procedures for the screenhouse, grit building, bypass chamber, aeration tanks, secondary pumps and clarifiers, nitrification and denitrification system and the UV system will be covered. The course will also detail the necessary lab work that is completed. The course will conclude with a brief summary highlighting some of the important topics discussed.

Course Content
We will present material about inspection and maintenance procedures for the A Side of the plant. As you progress through the course, you will learn about the tasks performed in the following process areas: magnesium hydroxide, FOG digester, Primary Treatment equipment, chemical and side stream processes, screenhouse, grit building, bypass chamber, aeration tank, Secondary Treatment equipment, Nitrification and Denitrification, UV system, and lab work.
