Description
Accurate water auditing is essential for utilities to understand real and apparent losses, improve system efficiency, and plan cost-effective interventions. The AWWA Free Water Audit Software (FWAS) provides a standardized, validated method for assessing water balance, data reliability, and system performance. This course introduces the AWWA Free Water Audit Software as a practical tool for evaluating a utility’s own water balance, identifying real and apparent losses within its distribution system, and using those results to strengthen data reliability, optimize operations, and guide targeted loss-reduction strategies.

Course Content
This course provides a system specific introduction to the AWWA Free Water Audit Software and its application. Utility staff learn how to assemble the required system data, complete the audit inputs, and interpret the software’s outputs, including the Water Balance and Data Validity Score. The course emphasizes how audit findings can be used to pinpoint sources of real and apparent losses and prioritize operational improvements.
